Hansen Motorsport, the team of multiple Rallycross Champion Kenneth Hansen, is participating in the 2019 Global Rallycross Europe series. The news was released today (January 11) by series promotor MJP Promotions. One of the announced drivers is Timmy Hansen (26), who was the runner-up in the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship and was competing for Team Peugeot-Total in the World championship until last season. He is joined by his younger brother Kevin Hansen (20), FIA European Rallycross Champion in 2016, who was also racing in last year’s World Rallycross championhip.
The Global Rallycross Europe series is open for Supercars (GRC Supercars category) and for the so-called GRC Titans category fielding ‘Pantera RX6’ cars. Each team participating in the series has to field a car in the Supercar class and the Titans class. Details about what car Hansen Motorsport will race were not revealed nevertheless we at rallycross.com understood that the team is planning to race the former Team Peugeot-Total Peugeot 208 cars in case they can successfull acquire the cars. As a worst case and/or fall back scenario MJP Racing Ford Fiestas Supercars will be rent out to the team.
Timmy and Kevin Hansen are the first names officially announced for the series that is supposed to have Finn Toomas Heikkinen and Austrian Alexander Wurz also as drivers.
The 2019 Global Rallycross Europe series season opener will take place at Dreux (Circuit de l’Ouest Parisien) in France on June 29-30.
