Following an earlier announcement that Joel Christoffersson’s JC Raceteknik acquired two 2017 former EKS Audi S1 Supercars, the team today (February 7) revealed the names of the drivers for the 2019 season.
Swedes Robin Larsson and Mats Öhman will be behind the wheel of the two Audi’s. Larsson, who previously raced in the FIA World Rallycross Championship with winning the round in Argentina in 2015 and was the FIA European Rallycross Champion in 2014, will target the 2019 FIA European Rallycross Championship together with the 2019 RallyX Nordic series. Mats Öhman on the other hand will be racing in this year’s RallyX Nordic series.
“It will be an exciting year for JC Raceteknik with both new Supercars and two strong drivers,” said Joel Christoffersson. “We had some setbacks last year, so now the whole team is really pumped for a strong season. Mats [Öhman] has worked with us for several years, so it will be fun to be able to focus on a good result together with him in RallyX Nordic. Robin [Larsson] is completely new to the team, even though he is a well-known face in the paddock. We look forward working with him and we will definitely fight for top results in both Euro RX and RallyX Nordic.”
The 2019 FIA European Rallycross Championship will go underway at Silverstone in the UK on May 25-26 while the 2019 RallyX Nordic already sees its first event a week earlier on May 17-19 with a double header event at Höljes in Sweden.
